Michael HEIZER

American Land art artist

Born in 1944

             One of the founders of the Earthworks movement. This movement was developed in north américa in the 1970's and eventually gave birth to land art.

            He is the author of important sculptural works established in desert regions. They are often made of excavations, that go from simple holes to straigth and trapezoidal trenches.

            Always very discret and non figuraive, his works deeply model the earth and rock.

They are both external and internal in a permanent contrast of shade and light which magnifies their  spatial depth.
